Project description

Dredging and excavation buckets and bucket teeth hardfaced to protect from wear and corrosion.

At Durum USA, our quick turnaround times and high quality workmanship have made us a highly sought-after company for hardfacing. When a customer required hardfacing for dredging/excavation buckets and bucket teeth, we were contracted for the job. We manufacture tungsten carbide hardfacing under the Durmat® brand, and we used several different types for this job: Durmat® NIFD, Durmat® NISE, and Durmat® NIA. Our hardfacings offer a number of important advantages; they have the best wear protection, and are quickly and easily applied. We employed our gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and oxy-fuel welding (OFW) techniques to apply the Durmat® products to a number of different base materials. These included low carbon steel plate, alloy steel forgings, and hardened steel plate. We worked with buckets of all sizes, some very large, which required extra working space and additional material handling equipment. Our customer was very pleased with our work. We were able to hardface the buckets without purchasing any additional equipment, and the resulting buckets and bucket teeth were clean in appearance and exhibited superior durability. This project was done with complete coverage and delivered to our customer with a turnaround time of just 3 days.

Durmat® NISE is a SMAW tubular electrode containing fused tungsten carbide (FTC) in a nickel alloy matrix.
Durmat® NIA is an OFW tubular rod containing fused tungsten carbide (FTC) in a nickel alloy matrix.
